Sherwood is a progressive community of approximately 300 citizens that offers a full-service shopping district to people on both sides of the border at prices competitive with larger cities. Sherwood relies heavily on agriculture and the Oil Industry for its economy, but recently started the Sherwood Area Development Commission to help diversify that economy. 

Sherwood is a perfect place to raise a family. We have a low crime rate with full-time police protection along with county and state police. Sherwood has a volunteer fire department and an ambulance service staffed by qualified EMT's that use up-to-date equipment.

Sherwood has a well staffed public school for students K-6. Then 7-12 go to Mohall High School and participate in activities with the MLS Mavericks. A high percentage of these graduates continue their education at two and four year colleges. We have graduated Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Nurses, Pharmacists, Construction Workers, Teachers, Business Executives, and General Laborers. Our students participate in extra-curricular activities such as football, speech, basketball, track, baseball, drama, band, chorus, and others. 

Sherwood has several full time businesses including Engh’ Trustworthy Hardware, Kathy’s Beauty Shop, Nettie’s Diner, Shawna’s Bar, Mouse River Ins., Precision Farm Parts, Sherwood Paying Receiving Station, Branch of the Citizens State Bank at Mohall. Stanley Welding & Oil Well service, Western Ag Labs. Farmers Union Oil Station, Cenex C Store, gas station and shop, Knutson Farm Service, clean all farm seeds, Southam Welding Service.

Sherwood has a very nice City Park with access to electricity and running water to accommodate campers. The City Park is the location for most of our summer recreation activities. The summer recreation program is with the Mohall, Lansford, & Sherwood and it includes swimming, softball, and youth baseball for ages 5-18, etc.

Sherwood has well kept up nine holes Golf Course just north of town; There are 3 Churches, Our Saviors Lutheran Church, St. James Catholic Church, and The United Methodist Church.

There are numerous organizations that provide help to the surrounding communities, including a very active American Legion Post. They sponsor an annual International Memorial Day Service that is unique in that we celebrate with our Canadian counter-parts. In 2012 we will be celebrating the 75 th Annual International Memorial Day service. Bothun-Peterson Post #213 also maintains Sherwood Memorial Hall, which was built in 1951-52 and is still well maintained for all public & private users.
